Position: Full Time

Hours: Monday to Friday 07:30 – 15:36

About the Role

As a Roving Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for providing reliable, high-standard maintenance services across Eldercare’s residential aged care facilities. Working collaboratively with the Property Services team, you will contribute to maintaining safe, comfortable and well-presented environments for residents, while delivering responsive and courteous customer service that supports their wellbeing and satisfaction.

  • Deliver a wide range of hands-on maintenance services across Eldercare’s residential aged care facilities & retirement living units — including general repairs, minor plumbing, painting, gardening, and equipment upkeep.
  • You will ensure all activities comply with legislative and accreditation standards, including fire safety requirements.
  • Working closely with site staff, you’ll manage maintenance workloads, budgets, and systems effectively, using the Maintenance Request System to track and report tasks.
  • Support audits, provide technical guidance to staff & oversee contractor performance.
  • Work on the on-call afterhours maintenance service roster at the agreed times (3 x 1 week blocks per year).

What You Will Bring

A blend of practical know‑how, teamwork and genuine care for the people you support will set you up for success in this role. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety and thrives in both independent and team‑based environments.

  • Proven hands‑on experience in maintenance, facilities, or handyman work, with aged care experience seen as a valuable bonus.
  • Confidence using IT systems and digital tools that support efficient facilities operations.
  • Familiarity with Test & Tag procedures — and if you’re not yet trained, we’re happy to support you.
  • A proactive, solutions‑driven approach, backed by a strong work ethic and a commitment to doing things well.
  • A friendly, approachable and service‑focused manner, ensuring every interaction with residents, staff and contractors is positive and respectful.
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage your time effectively across multiple sites.
  • Comfort working both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team, contributing to a supportive and high‑performing Property Services group.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong, respectful relationships across a diverse workforce and resident community.
  • A genuine interest in growing your knowledge in facilities management and expanding your technical skill set.
