About the role
As a Spiritual Care Practitioner at Eldercare, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person-centred spiritual support to residents and their families across our sites. This position embodies Eldercare’s commitment to holistic care—recognising that spiritual wellbeing is essential to overall health and quality of life.
You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, fostering meaningful connections and promoting autonomy, dignity, and emotional wellbeing for each resident. With sensitivity and insight, you’ll provide inclusive spiritual care that honours the diverse beliefs, cultures, and traditions of our community.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor degree in Theology, Counselling, Social Sciences or equivalent at a tertiary level
- Clinical Pastoral Education or the equivalent reflective practice training (according to current industry standards)
- Certified Level Two member of Spiritual Care Australia preferred: eligibility essential (see: Spiritual Care Australia (2023). Capabilities Framework for Spiritual Care Practitioners. Melbourne, Australia)
- Awareness and understanding of diverse cultures, beliefs, practices and traditions
- Capability in leading public and informal rituals and services
- Driver’s License and a willingness to travel to various Eldercare Sites
- Knowledge of the process of ageing and dementia awareness
- Understanding of issues and spiritual needs surrounding grief and loss
- A thorough understanding of the spiritual and pastoral care components of palliative care
