Regional Roving Chef

  • Working across Eldercare's 12 Adelaide Metro Residential Aged Care Sites
  • A key role that ensures our Residents receive home-cooked meals at a high standard
  • Travel allowance + salary sacrificing

 Week Day Roving Chef 

  • 38 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • 0700-1500

 As a Regional Roving Chef you are crucial for ensuring our Hospitality Services run smoothly. The Regional Roving Chefs are allocated to work at the Eldercare site that needs their skills on that day, this is often to cover planned/unplanned leave or provide extra assistance when required. You will hear from our centralised Roster Team each week to establish where you are needed for your upcoming shifts. 

On site you will be responsible for the preparation of our resident's meals to a high standard, including texture modified diets.  You will assist in supervising the completion of tasks related to hospitality services across site. Ensuring compliance with food safety standards, kitchen hygiene and and completion of action plans is a key part of your daily tasks. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Trade qualified chef or relevant experience of a minimum of 5 years (Aged care experience desirable but not essential)
  • High level of understanding of food safety practices
  • Knowledge of the preparation of food for special diets or resident individual requirements (such as texture modified, medical conditions etc)
  • High level of professionalism and empathy when communicating with staff, residents and their families
  • Understand the importance of food in people’s lives, especially as they age
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills

To work for Eldercare, you are required to have a police clearance valid for working in aged care (unsupervised contact with vulnerable people) and the clearance needs to be less than 12 months since date of issue.

As per Eldercare’s Employee Immunisation Policy, all Eldercare employees are required to:

  • Be vaccinated against seasonal influenza by no later than 1 June each year
  • Be vaccinated against COVID-19 as per current ATAGI guidelines
